Under Hearst, the magazine’s readership grew, and it became one of the most profitable publications at that time. Instead of focusing on middle-class women, Good Housekeeping targeted upper-class women who were wives, mothers, and managers of their households.Īfter Bryan died in 1899, the magazine experienced a series of owners until 1911, when the Hearst Corporation purchased it.
